AJINKYA KHARBADIKAR : From Chef to Enterprise

Ajinkya Kharbadikar: The Events Planner

Specttrum Profiles: Chef Ajinkya Kharbadikar of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has allowed his professional identity to grow far beyond the conventional definition of a chef. Food remains at the foundation of his career, while twelve years across hospitality, culinary operations, consulting, aviation, events and business have gradually widened his professional canvas.

Today, Ajinkya is CEO of Sound of Music, an event management company that creates experiences ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale productions. The company combines creative design with strategic planning and execution, transforming ideas into complete event experiences. For Ajinkya, the role brings together several abilities acquired at different stages of his career: hospitality, planning, budgeting, team management, client expectations and execution.

His academic grounding includes a Bachelor’s in Hotel Management and a Master’s in Hospitality Management. From there came exposure to demanding names in luxury hospitality, including The Oberoi, Taj and ITC Hotels, along with international experience at Shaza Hotel Riyadh.

A professional kitchen teaches lessons that travel surprisingly well. Timing matters. Resources matter. Quality has to remain consistent. Teams have to work together. Customer expectations have to be understood closely. Ajinkya carried these lessons with him as his responsibilities expanded.

His journey subsequently moved through organisations and ventures such as MBA Chaiwala, Tealogy, Suto Cafe and BBC Hospitality. The work increasingly involved the business behind the food: menu planning, budgeting, cost control, kitchen management, manpower planning, food safety and setting up hospitality operations.

This ability to move between creativity and commercial thinking became one of the defining features of his career. Ajinkya could discuss what should go on a plate and also examine what it would cost, how the kitchen would deliver it consistently, how manpower should be deployed and whether the larger operation made business sense.

The canvas kept expanding. Aviation brought another kind of precision to his professional experience. Events introduced planning and execution beyond regular hospitality operations. Consulting allowed him to work with entrepreneurs and emerging ventures. Training junior professionals added another dimension: sharing practical knowledge acquired through years inside the industry.

This progression eventually makes his present role at Sound of Music easier to understand. Events and hospitality share an important common ground. Both revolve around experience. Both demand attention to hundreds of small details. And both are remembered by the customer largely through how everything comes together on the day.

Membership of the Chefs Guild of India and World Chef Society connects Ajinkya with the larger professional culinary community. He was named Best Youth Icon of India 2025 and Best Hospitality and Chef Consultant 2025. His diverse professional journey also earned him recognition from national and international record books. The interesting part in his story is the career architecture behind these recognitions.

Ajinkya has kept expanding his original professional vocabulary. Culinary skills led towards operations. Operations opened doors to management. Management widened into consulting, events and entrepreneurship. The person who understands the kitchen today also understands the economics and experiences surrounding it.

That progression carries a useful message for young professionals. A qualification can provide the starting point. The skills accumulated afterwards can take a career into places that may never have appeared in the original plan.

Ajinkya also speaks about responsible sourcing, sustainability, respect for ingredients and menus that respond to different dietary requirements. His earlier professional statement reflects an understanding that contemporary hospitality extends into responsibility and evolving consumer expectations.

Behind all these roles, the chef remains visible. Perhaps that is what makes the journey interesting. Ajinkya has kept adding capabilities around his original craft. The kitchen became a training ground for a much larger professional journey. From culinary operations to consulting, from hospitality to events, and eventually to the CEO’s chair, Chef Ajinkya Kharbadikar is continuously enlarging the possibilities of his profession.

My association with Ajinkya began through his culinary achievements; following which he joined the 5AM Bliss group. Since then, I have had an opportunity to know him beyond his professional accomplishments and to follow an ambitious career that continues to explore new directions. Specttrum Profiles gives me another window to celebrate that evolving journey.
