Specttrum Profiles: Communication has the power to do much more than share information. It can connect cultures, build trust across borders and create opportunities where none seem to exist. Few professionals demonstrate this better than Shraddha Mishra, whose journey has taken her from television studios in India to establishing an international media platform in Germany that brings together the Indian diaspora and strengthens Indo-German understanding.
Shraddha began
her career as a television newsreader and presenter with Doordarshan.
She later anchored programmes for ETV Uttar Pradesh and subsequently
hosted programmes for News18 India. These assignments strengthened her
ability to communicate with diverse audiences while laying the foundation for a
career that would eventually extend beyond broadcasting into international
media entrepreneurship.
One of the
defining lessons of her professional journey has been her ability to transform
language barriers into opportunities for growth. After moving from Uttar
Pradesh to Punjab, she initially faced professional limitations because she
could not speak Punjabi. Rather than allowing that challenge to restrict her
career, she proposed and presented the Hindi programme Chandigarh Diary
for Doordarshan Chandigarh, later established her own production house
and gradually learnt Punjabi through everyday interactions. Years later, she
found herself comfortably conducting professional conversations in the
language. Today, while living in Germany, she follows the same philosophy by
learning German, believing that every new language opens the door to
understanding a new society and culture more deeply.
Her career
expanded significantly when she joined the India Today Group. As
Regional Head of Meow 104.8 FM in Patiala, she led programming, station
operations, marketing, client relationships and business development. These
responsibilities broadened her understanding of media management and commercial
strategy while strengthening her leadership skills. Earlier, she had also
worked with Radio City 91.1 FM, gaining valuable experience in radio
broadcasting and audience engagement.
After
relocating to Germany, Shraddha chose not to distance herself from journalism.
Instead, she transformed her experience into a larger mission. She founded Indo
German Spectrum, an international media platform dedicated to strengthening
understanding between India and Germany. The initiative highlights the
achievements of the Indian diaspora while covering business, education,
culture, entrepreneurship, innovation and community life. For Shraddha, the
platform represents far more than a publication. It is a bridge that introduces
contemporary India beyond familiar stereotypes while creating a credible space
for stories that connect people, ideas and cultures.
Her commitment
to continuous learning has matched her professional growth. After recognising
the importance of combining practical experience with formal management
education, she completed a Global MBA in Marketing with a specialisation in
Entrepreneurship. The programme strengthened the knowledge she had already
acquired through years of building brands, leading teams and developing media
ventures across different environments.
My association
with Shraddha goes back several years through our shared work in media and
communication. During the formative stage of Indo German Spectrum, she
discussed the magazine's concept and design with me while exploring ways to
create a publication that would genuinely serve the Indian community in
Germany. Over the years, I have admired her determination to pursue that vision
with patience and professionalism. Watching the idea gradually evolve into an
international publication has been deeply satisfying.
What
distinguishes Shraddha Mishra is her ability to convert every transition into
an opportunity for growth. Whether adapting to a new language, moving across
states, leading radio stations or establishing an international publication in
another country, she has consistently demonstrated that communication is
ultimately about building trust and bringing people closer.
Today, through Indo
German Spectrum magazine, Shraddha continues to strengthen cultural
understanding between India and Germany while creating a meaningful platform
for the Indian diaspora. Her journey illustrates that journalism does not end
with reporting the news. At its best, it becomes a lifelong commitment to
connecting people, preserving identities and building bridges across societies.
