Currently serving as Group Chief Growth Officer and CEO - Middle East at Tabhi, an AI-first B2B travel marketplace headquartered in the United States, Dr. Karthik leads strategic growth across the Middle East while contributing to the company's global expansion. His appointment represents another milestone in a career that has crossed industries, continents and emerging technologies with remarkable ease.
Over the past two decades, he has held senior leadership positions with globally respected organisations including Standard Chartered Bank, Infosys, Dun & Bradstreet, DAMAC Properties and Emids. His professional experience spans Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Australia and the United States, covering digital transformation, artificial intelligence, business strategy, innovation, governance and enterprise growth. Earlier, he also served as Chief Innovation Officer of United Business Machines in the UAE and continues to advise members of several UAE Royal Families on digital transformation, emerging technologies and innovation-led initiatives.
Learning has remained central to his journey. An engineer by qualification, Dr. Karthik pursued advanced studies in management and research, earning MBA, DBA and PhD qualifications while completing executive education at premier institutions including the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, XLRI, IIMs, ISB, BITS Pilani, IIT Madras and INSEAD. He proudly carries forward an academic legacy as the great-grandson of Prof. V. Lakshminarayanan, the Founder Director of BITS Pilani. His academic career has included honorary and visiting appointments at several leading institutions, reflecting his passion for sharing knowledge with future leaders.
Beyond corporate leadership, Dr. Karthik has become a recognised voice in emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence and digital healthcare. He has trained more than 10,000 healthcare professionals, surgeons and medical practitioners in the ethical application of AI, Healthcare 4.0 and digital health technologies. His work demonstrates that innovation is most meaningful when it empowers professionals and improves the quality of human life.
His contributions extend well beyond industry. He serves in several national and international advisory capacities, including leadership roles with the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA Bharat), the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser's Manthan Initiative and the United Nations Global Compact Network India. He has represented India at international forums, including the United Nations, while continuing to mentor entrepreneurs, researchers, innovators and academic institutions across multiple disciplines.
Recognition has naturally followed this diverse body of work. Dr. Karthik has received more than one hundred national and international honours for his contributions to innovation, technology, education and social development. Among them are the Bharat Samman 2025, conferred for innovation, research and social activism, recognition from the IBR for mentoring developers and innovators during the COVID-19 pandemic, Asia's 100 Power Leaders in Technology, the inaugural IIM Nagpur Best Alumnus Award, Business Mint 50 Under 50 and several other honours that acknowledge his contributions to both business and society.
Yet, achievements alone do not define Dr. Karthik. The values that guide his leadership were shaped much earlier through his association with the Sri Sathya Sai educational institutions. Having had the privilege of being closely associated with Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba during his formative years, he embraced the ideals of character, compassion and selfless service that continue to influence his personal and professional life. As a long-time volunteer in the Balvikas movement and Secretary of the Sai Anandamrutham Foundation, he actively supports initiatives dedicated to free healthcare, education, community welfare, hunger relief and the restoration of spiritual heritage. His work reflects a belief that leadership finds its highest purpose in service.
My association with Dr. Karthik began through our shared connection with the Sri Sathya Sai mission. He coordinated my visit to Sai Grama near Bengaluru in November 2025 with remarkable warmth and attention to detail. During our conversations, I discovered someone who was as comfortable discussing artificial intelligence and global business as he was speaking about education, spirituality and human values. Despite his impressive accomplishments, he remains approachable, cheerful and genuinely interested in encouraging others to grow.
What stands out most about Dr. Karthik, a TEDx Speaker, is his ability to connect worlds that often appear unrelated. He brings together technology and humanity, innovation and ethics, corporate leadership and public service, global thinking and Indian values.
