Specttrum Profiles: International trade is more than moving products across borders. It is about creating markets, building relationships and representing India's manufacturing capabilities on the global stage. Over the past decade and a half, Vikas Singh Chauhan has been contributing to this journey as an entrepreneur, exporter and industry representative, combining business growth with collective progress for the home textile sector.

As Director of Skier Export and Import Private Limited, Vikas has been actively engaged in international trade since 2009. Based in the Delhi NCR region, his company serves global markets while maintaining a strong focus on quality, customer relationships and long-term business development. Alongside this, he is also associated with Sara Exports, further expanding his presence in the textile export industry.

Beyond his own business, Vikas has assumed a wider responsibility as Director of the Home Textile Exporters Welfare Association (HEWA). The organisation works to strengthen the interests of textile exporters by raising industry concerns, encouraging collaboration and engaging with the Ministry of Textiles and the Ministry of Commerce on matters affecting the sector. Through this role, he contributes to creating a more supportive environment for exporters and promoting the long-term growth of India's home textile industry.

Vikas completed his Master of International Business from the Institute of Management Studies, Dehradun, after graduating in Biochemistry from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. His educational background reflects an interesting transition from science to international business, ultimately leading him to the world of global commerce.

Travel has become an integral part of both his profession and personality. Having visited scores of countries for business meetings, trade interactions and personal exploration, he values international exposure as an important source of learning. These experiences have broadened his understanding of global markets while strengthening professional relationships across different regions.

Over the past several years, I have had the opportunity to support Vikas through media coverage of his professional activities and initiatives related to the export community. Our association goes back to the popular Twitter Chats during 2020, where he was a regular and enthusiastic participant in discussions on business, communication and current affairs. Since then, we have remained connected through social media and professional interactions. During this period, I have observed a young entrepreneur who combines ambition with a practical approach to business. His willingness to support fellow exporters through HEWA reflects his belief that industry growth is best achieved through collective effort rather than individual success alone.

As India's exports continue to play an increasingly important role in the national economy, professionals like Vikas Singh Chauhan contribute by connecting Indian manufacturing with international markets while also working to address the challenges faced by the exporter community. His journey reflects a blend of entrepreneurship, industry leadership and a commitment to strengthening India's presence in global trade.
